Salvation and the Government of God

Help me praying against
waterfalls and canyons cut
in rocks, because that is not
the way to salvation.

Salvation is an illegal word.
Disguised in creepiness,
a trick-or-treat,
a five year old,
adorable with vampire teeth.

I don't mean to be a
mystic or a gnostic or
a hairy tick
because I want to think
every "creature of God is good"
but Salvation in many contexts
means wholeness
having nothing to do with
waterfalls or rocks

but with cleansing and tenderness
of heart, hands, mind, speech, feet and feelings.

That is why I pray
1. "turn this heart of rock to flesh"
2. "pour your spirit out on your sons and daughters"
3. "Enslave me to freedom"

Freedom
my life
liberty
and happiness
is often thwarted
by me
trying to be free
without mercy

Enslave me to mercy

Appendix 1 - Bill of Rights
A confession of mismanaged freedoms

My speech is poison
half the time

I usually assemble
with the intent to
divide

My arms are bare
in fact I am naked
when I think I am clothed

In times of peace and war
I cut down houses
without welcome

I search and seize
your most beautiful
thoughts and call
them my own

I will try you
twice, no, three times
over and over in my mind
Guilty!

They won't get a jury
only my heart's contempt

Punishment is unusually
cold like winter

Enslave me to mercy
